The Hive [Southwest] (AR0300)

Did we miss anything on this map? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

1 - Marketplace

This is the marketplace, an area where you will meet merchants such as Giscorl, Prophyra, Kossah-Jai, and others. You can buy a few interesting things here, including a pet Lim-Lim. If you buy a Lim-Lim, it can be turned to stone by one of the "prostitutes" in the Brothel of Slating Intellectual Lusts in the Clerk's Ward. It can then be used later on to join the Anarchist faction.

If you have spoken with Mebbeth in Ragpicker's Square (and wish to become a mage), you will be coming to the marketplace to complete a series of errands for her. Once you have finished these tasks, you can return to her in order to be trained as a mage.

You can also talk with Craddock, who will ask you to find Jhelai and talk with him. Jhelai is in the southeast portion of the Hive, just outside the Smoldering Corpse Bar. Return to Craddock for an experience boost. Depending on how you speak to Craddock, you can also gain a new taunt for Morte and he'll hire you to do some work. You'll be paid for the work based upon your strength attribute.

2 - Reekwind

A man by the name of Reekwind stands along the road here. He will tell you that he is cursed with a foul smell and provide information about the Hive. To lift Reekwind's curse, you must travel to the Civic Festhall in the Clerk's Ward and harass Jumble Murdersense until he curses you.

Once he's cursed you, talk with Salabesh, the wizard outside the festhall. Salabesh will teach you a curse that you can use on Jumble. Once you've cursed Jumble, you can get him to lift both your curse and Reekwind's for an experience bonus. Returning to Reekwind after the curse is lifted will also get you a good experience reward.

If you listen to Reekwind's story about the history of the Alley of Dangerous Angles, you can later speak to Ignus (the burning mage in the Smoldering Corpse Bar) about it, which will lead to Ignus teaching you his magic. One last item worthy of mention is that you can get 1000 experience points for asking Reekwind to tell a story about you, and then finishing it when he asks you how it ends. If you let him finish the story, you'll only receive 500 experience points.

3 - Iron Nalls

You can talk to a woman named Iron Nalls here, who is pulling nails from the debris. She has little purpose other than to provide you with a small bit of general information.

4 - Ash-Mantle

Here you'll meet a Dustman named Ash-Mantle. If you have inquired about joining the Dustmen to Emoric in the Gathering Dust Bar in the northeast portion of the Hive, then you will realize that Ash-Mantle is not a Dustman after all. Expose him for his thieving ways (or even kill him) for 750 experience points and then return to Emoric for another step towards the Dustman faction.

5 - The Office of Vermin and Disease Control

The Office of Vermin and Disease Control is run by a man named Phineas T. Lort. Phineas is willing to buy any cranium rat tails you might have. Once you've sold plenty of tails to Phineas, he will ask you to slay a Wererat in his basement. Grab the key and take care of the Wererat for him to earn 1000 experience points.

6 - Crier of Es-Annon

Along the road here you'll meet a man called the "Crier of Es-Annon". He will tell you about the city of Es-Annon and that only a handful of people still weep about its destruction. Tell the Crier that it would be better to construct a monument instead, in order to preserve the memory of the city longer than the lives of the people who still weep for it.

If you go to the Dustmen Monument in the northeast portion of the Hive and speak to a man inside named Death of Names, you can pay him three coppers to inscribe "Es Annon" on the wall (500 experience points). Talk to the crier again and you'll receive another 500 experience points.

If you want to avoid all the running around and have an intelligence, wisdom, or charisma of 14+, you can convince the crier to give up his mournful lifestyle for 750 experience points.

7 - Brasken's Kip

Brasken has little importance until you bring him the box that you get from Mar in the northwest portion of the Hive. Once you've shown the box to Brasken, he will have you bring it to Shilandra in the northeast portion of the Hive.
